Data from the China Electricity Council reveals that the industrial sector was responsible for the majority share of electricity consumption during the initial four months of 2023.
From January to April, electricity usage in the industrial sector experienced a year-on-year growth of 5.2 percent, reaching a total of 1.83 trillion kWh. This accounted for 65.3 percent of the overall electricity consumption in the country.
In April alone, the industrial sector utilized 474 billion kWh of electricity, reflecting a 7.7 percent increase compared to the previous year.

During the same four-month period, the manufacturing industry in China consumed 1.38 trillion kWh of electricity, indicating a year-on-year rise of 4.5 percent.
