In a recent announcement, John Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), revealed that over 70,000 individuals have relocated to Hong Kong through various talent admission schemes in the current year. This notable figure significantly surpasses the annual target of 35,000, underscoring the city’s robust international allure and competitiveness in attracting global talents.
Speaking at the establishment ceremony of the Hong Kong Top Talent Services Association, Lee expressed satisfaction with the overwhelming response to the talent admission initiatives. The HKSAR government received an impressive 180,000 applications during the first ten months of the year, with more than 110,000 successfully approved.
Of particular note is the Top Talent Pass Scheme, which received approximately 55,000 applications, out of which more than 43,000 were approved. This program, evidently, has played a crucial role in drawing skilled individuals to Hong Kong.
The Chief Executive emphasized the city’s strong international appeal, attributing the high number of successful applications to Hong Kong’s competitiveness on the global stage.
